INTER COMMUNITY-INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL ENGLISH DEBATE 2006

An Inter Community Schools English Debate was held on March 29, 2006 at Dr. A.Q.Khan Hall, Pakistan School Muscat. The topic for debate was "Television Has Done More Harm Than Good". Mr. Sarfraz Sipra the Head of Chancery Pakistan embassy to Sultanate of Oman was the chief guest of the occasion. Also present were Principal PSM, members BOG, staff, students and parents.

Pakistan school always holds different healthy co curricular activities like inter house and inter school competitions. The ceremony began with recitation from the Holy Quran by Abdul Mateen Baig. After recitation the stage secretary Hira Irfan from AS level welcomed all the guests in the hall. Maood Al Shabani Head of English Language Centre in College of Banking and Financial Studies with twenty six years teaching experience, Ms. Sonia Carr the Regional Development Manager Edexcel International since 1998 and Mr. Nasrullah khan a prominent member of the community an MBA from Briston University UK were the judges of debate.

Five schools including Pakistan School Muscat Participated in the debate and from each school two students participated, one for the motion and one against the motion.
Zakia Ansari and Prvithra Venkataraman participated from Indian School Muscat, Parvathy Unnikrisha and Amal Saree from Indian School Darsait, Kaidar Raman and Imrana Khan from Indian School Wadi Kabir. Tahira and Hafya participated from Ruwi High Secondary School. Hamdi Alhusni and Hina Zara Jaffery represented Pakistan School Muscat.

The competition was very impressive and every speaker tried his/her best to convince the audience. Zakia Ansari from Indian School Muscat and Imrana Khan from Indian School Wadi Kabir secured the third position. Second position was also shared by two students, Hamdi Al Husni from Pakistan School Muscat and Kaidar Raman from Indian School Wadi Kabir. The first position was won by Hina Zahra Jaffery from Pakistan School Muscat.
Pakistan School Muscat was over all winner of the debate.

All the winners were awarded with certificates and medals. The chief guest accompanied by the Principal PSM presented the trophy to the winning team.

In the end Mr. Sarfraz Sipra expressed his happiness over the high standard of debate. He said that whether the arguments were in favor or against the purpose is to learn the pros and cons of the issue. He appreciated the efforts of all the participants congratulated all the winners. He congratulated the administration of Pakistan School Muscat for arranging such healthy activities in the school.

The ceremony ended with the national anthem.

 

PAKISTAN DAY CELEBRATED
WITH ZEAL AND FERVOR


Pakistani community in Oman gathered to celebrate the Pakistan Day, in an enthusiastic and impressive ceremony, at Pakistan School Muscat on 23rd March 2006.

H.E. Javed Hafiz ambassador of Pakistan to Sultanate of Oman hoisted the Pakistani flag to mark the historic day, which saw the famous Pakistan Resolution being passed 66 years ago at Iqbal Park in Lahore.

It is the tradition of Pakistan School Muscat to celebrate the day with zeal and fervor but this year the march past added colors to the celebration. The smartly dressed students n Kahqi uniform presented a very impressive march past and they really looked like true soldiers. In this regard the efforts of the Admin officer Capt. (Retd.) Tanveer Taj, DPE Mr. Muhammad Ilyas Khan and Lab Technician Mr. Muhammad Asif under the guidance of Professor Wajahat Ashraf Qazi Principal PS Muscat are worth mentioning. The ambassador accompanied by Prof. Wajahat Ashraf Qazi Principal Pakistan School Muscat and Capt. Wasim Akram Defense attaché and reviewed the parade before heading for the flag-hoisting ceremony. Present at the occasion were Dr. Irfan Farroque chairman BOG, members of BOG, officials/officers of Pakistan Embassy, Country Manager Habib Bank, president Pakistan Social Club including a large number of Pakistanis from the community.

The function regarding Pakistan Day took place at Dr. A.Q. Khan Hall in Pakistan School Muscat. The program was conducted by Fatima Iqbal students class XI. The ceremony started with the name of Almighty Allah by the recitation from the Holy Quran by Qari Rahim followed by Naat-e-Rasool (PBUH) by Jahanzaib Chaudhry.

After that a very patriotic tableau was presented by tiny kids of PSM. Then two students Irrum Mehmood and Anum Khalid delivered speeches in Urdu and English respectively. On this occasion Mr. Jahanzaib Chaudry along with the Pakistan school choir sang a few national songs.

In the end H.E. Javed Hafiz accompanied by the chairman BOG and Principal PSM distributed certificates to the parade squad, the supervisors of the parade and to all those teachers and students who worked day and nights in the earth quake relief camp. After the distribution of certificates H.E. addressed the audience. He first conveyed the messages of Prime Minister Pakistan Shaukat Aziz and President Pakistan General Pervaiz Musharraf to all the Pakistani community.

H.E. appreciated the march past a lot and congratulated the whole school management for holding such good show. He also talked about the bilateral relations of Pakistan and Oman and happily told that that there will be direct flights by Gulf Air from Muscat to Islamabad and in near future PIA will also start the same.

In the end H.E. Javed Hafiz wished all the community a very happy Pakistan Day. The ceremony ended with the national anthem.

 

PAKISTAN SCHOOL MUSCAT
PARENTS DAY - JUNIOR SECTION
2005-2006


Parents' day of junior section was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Dr. A.Q. Khan hall, Pakistan School Muscat, on 30th March 2006. H.E. Javed Hafiz, the ambassador of Pakistan to Sultanate of Oman and Patron in Chief Pakistani Schools in Oman, was the chief guest of the ceremony. Prof. Wajahat Ashraf Qazi Principal Pakistan School Muscat and staff of PSM hosted the ceremony. Present at the occasion were Chairman Board of Governors Dr. Irfan Farooque, officials Pakistan embassy, members Board of Governors, worthy parents and the students of PSM.

The ceremony was conducted by Fatima Iqbal of XI class and Anum Khalid of AS level. The ceremony began with the name of Allah by the recitation of Surah Ar-Rehman from the Holy Quran by Irbaz Ibrahim followed by a tableau on the translation of Surah Ar-Rehman. Students of class II dressed in different costumes depicted the beauty of nature blessed by Almighty Allah. Then there was another tableau 'Tree" which was showing the importance of trees. One student Muhammad Umair played beautiful national song 'Jeevay Jeevay Pakistan' on keyboard. Tiny tots of the junior section of Pakistan school presented many other items like speeches, poems, Kashmiri dance, Ballet dance, Barbie dance, Tarzan dance, Arabic dance, Urdu drama with a message of cleanliness, English stage play Snow White, fancy dress show depicting the global cultures and many more. The performances of the small kids from KG to class II were awesome which was a clear reflection of the hard work of the teaching staff of Junior Section of the school who have worked till late evenings to make this function a big success.

Professor Wajahat Ashraf Qazi, Principal Pakistan School Muscat gave his full support and confidence to the teachers during the rehearsals and the preparations of this function.

In the end H.E. Javed Hafiz expressed his happiness to see such a great quality show. He congratulated the whole management for having such a grand program and said that the teaching staff of the junior section and the kids in particular need a lot of commendation for their hard work.

The ceremony ended with the national anthem.

 

INTER-HOUSE
QUIZ COMPETITION-2006

An Inter-House General Knowledge and Quiz competition was organized in connection with Pakistan Day celebrations in A.Q. Khan Hall, Pakistan School Muscat on 21st of March 2006. Mr. Sarfraz Sipra the head of chancery Pakistan embassy was the chief guest. Also present at the occasion was the worthy Principal of PSM, Prof. Wajahat Ashraf Qazi, member Board of Governors, teachers and students of PSM.

Four students from each house. Taha Shahid (P-III), Fatima Humayoon (P-III), Fatima Abdul Hameed (VIII-C) and Sahar Maqbool Kiyani (V-III-C) represented Jinnah house. Zarnaab Baig (S-I), Sana Aziz (P-I), Muhammad Shrif Saleh (S-I) and Rafay Malik (S-I) participated from Iqbal house. Asad Akhter (S-I), Saud Sherzaman (P-III), Zahra Saeed (IX-C) and Hana Zafar (IX-C) represented Sir-Syed house. From Johar house Haris Bin Tariq (S-I), Aasma Khan (IX-B), Marzia Wajid (IX-C) and Sahara Humayoon (S-I) made the representations.

The event started with the recitation from the Holy Quran by Abdul Mateen Baig of class VI. The questions for the competition were based on three categories namely; the Freedom Movement of Pakistan, The Post Independence Period of Pakistan and The Great Personalities of Pakistan. The participants competed well throughout.

Johar house was declared as the winner house and SirSyed house was the runner up. The chief guest accompanied by the Principal PSM distributed the trophies to the winner houses and certificates of commendation to all the contestants

Addressing the students, the Chief Guest congratulated all the winners and appreciated the efforts of all the participants. He emphasized on the importance of such healthy activities as these activities not only give an opportunity to enhance the general knowledge of the students but also helps them a lot when they enter in their practical lives. .
In the end the chief guest praised the efforts of the students as well as the management of PSM to organize such literal activities.
