CIRCULAR # 16 June 18, 2011

1. Pakistani Schools are charging tuition fee for 10 months per year and this year no fee shall be charged for July and August as the schools will resume in September 2011.

2. BOD has decided that fee deposit deadline shall be 5th of every month as the invoices shall be given to the students on 25th of every month. Fee invoices for the month of September 2011 shall be given to the students in the last week of June and the deadline shall be September 05, 2011. You may deposit the Fee anytime during summer vacation before September 05, 2011. Fee invoices can also be obtained from the school account section during the summer vacation.

3. BOD has decided to increase fee .500 Bzs only with effect from September 2011

1. Kindly be informed that students are being given homework to keep them remain in touch with their studies. It plays a very important role for the grooming of the students and it does not break the continuity of their education. 2. Parent teacher meeting from class KG-I to IX & P-I to S-I is schedule to be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. to discuss the educational progress of the students and their monthly tests result.

CIRCULAR # 14 May 31, 2011

Kindly be informed that the regular classes for Class-XII shall commence from Saturday, June 04, 2011. You are requested to ensure that your son/daughter comes to school regularly to attend the classes in proper uniform at 7:30 am.

Kindly be informed that PSM Administration is striving hard to improve the discipline of school. You are requested to advise your ward to avoid playing near the Church and Temple after school hours. Kindly ensure that you pick and drop your ward in front of the school gates. Your cooperation shall be highly appreciated.

 
CIRCULAR # 12 May 07, 2011

Kindly be informed that PSM has changed its examination policy as already has been notified to you. It is mentioned that from the current academic session there will two examinations instead of three. The examination fee has been revised and will be RO 10.000 for two term examinations i.e. RO 5.000 for each examination. Fee will be charged in the month of November and March. Your cooperation shall be highly appreciated.

 
CIRCULAR # 11 Aprail 30, 2011

1. Kindly be informed that to provide maximum time for studies to the students of class XI, Provisional classes of class XI shall commence with effect from May 07, 2011.

2. Students shall pay only monthly tuition fee of May and June.

3. The regular admission for these classes shall start from the 1st week of September 2011 according to the merit/result.

4. There will be a parents meeting with The Principal and Coordinator (in this regard) on Wednesday May 04, 2011 at 2:00 pm in the library. Parents are quested to attend this meeting.

Examination Policy 2011

Academic Session
Academic Session  classes VIII, SSC and HSSC will commence from April and end in March and for all other classes it shall commence from August/ September and end in  May/ June (except for this year

Continuous Assessment System The ‘Two Term’ Continuous Assessment System has been introduced with effect from April, 2011 which will increase the valuable teaching time. Each term will comprise of continuous assessments, monthly tests and mid-year and end of year examinations as has been explained in the following chart.

Rules & Regulations

1. The students’ progress/ position and promotion will be based on the whole academic year performance.

2. For class KG to V, 50% syllabus shall be included in Mid-year examination and 50% in the End of Year examination.

3. For Classes VI and above and P –I and above, 50% syllabus shall be included in the Mid -year examination and 100 % syllabus shall be included in the End of Year examination

4. Computer Science subject shall be awarded with marks instead of grade with effect from this year (2011-12)

5. Continuous assessments have been given weightage in the new system. These assessments shall be based on class work, class tests and other assessments like oral work, mental work (in Maths), project work and quiz etc. Continuous assessment task shall be done in the subject copybooks.

6. Subject teachers will record marks of at least assessments before the monthly test. Students/ parents shall be informed regarding assessments 3-4 days earlier through students’ diary. Some assessments might take place uninformed.

7. Monthly tests shall be conducted and regular classes shall continue. Parents shall be sent a date sheet through a circular or student’s diary.

8. If a student is absent with genuine reason (medical reason provided with application +medical certificate) during the continuous assessment, monthly test or Midyear/ End of year examination shall be awarded average marks in the final examination. (For further details, please read the detailed examination policy which shall be uploaded on the school website soon (www.pakistanschool.edu.om).

9. If a student is absent without valid reason during the continuous assessments, monthly tests or Midyear / End of year examinations shall not be awarded any marks.

10. A student who misses any exam is not eligible for a prize for academic excellence

11. A student who has less then 75% attendance is not eligible for a prize for academic excellence

12. Student of the Year Award shall be awarded to the student who is best in curricular and co-curricular activities throughout the year.

13. Formal Report Cards should be sent out twice a year i.e. at mid-year and end of year. Monthly test grades shall be sent out on A-4 sized papers

14. Positions shall be announced in the End of Exam only

Promotion Policy (Class I –to- VII)

1 Pass percentage will be 40% for FBISE system and 50% for ‘O’ level system.

2 English, Mathematics, Science and Urdu will be considered as core or major subjects

3 Social Studies, Islamiat, Computer Studies and Arabic (where applicable) will be considered as non-core or minor subjects.

4 A student will be promoted to the next class if he/she is;

  • passed in all subjects.
  • failed in only one subject (except for English).
  • failed in any two subjects but obtaining at least 25% in each subject.

5. A student will be eligible for a re-test after annual exams if he/she is;

  • failed in English
  • failed in any TWO core and ONE non-core subjects.
  • failed in any THREE non-core subjects.

6. A student will be declared failed and will not be promoted to next class if he/she is;

  • failed in THREE core subjects including English.
  • failed in ANY FOUR subjects.

7. Grade V students ( regardless of nationality) have to achieve aggregate of 60% marks in core subjects and overall 60% marks for the promotion to Prep-I.

8. A student (regardless of nationality) who is seeking a fresh admission in Prep-I to A2 classes must secure 60% marks in the admission tests.

9. The students who will secure 60% or above can take Biology as a subject.

10. The students who will secure 55% or above can take Computer Science as a subject.

11. A student who passes class VIII but secure less than 45%, shall not be allowed to get SLC for becoming a casual (private) student in class IX (Biology and Computer Science). Such a student shall opt for art group only.

 

 

CIRCULAR # 8 January 19, 2011

Kindly be informed that students of above classes shall appear in Federal Board Examination in the year 2011. The examination for class SSC shall commence from April 05, 2011 and for HSSC with effect from May 05, 2011. Keeping in view, the importance of board examinations and to produce better results, the Pakistan School Management has decided to continue regular classes till before one week from the commencement of the examinations.

 

Class IX and X regular classes shall continue till March 26, 2011. Class XI & XII regular classes shall continue till April 27, 2011.

 

After the completion of syllabus, revision shall start and question papers of all subjects of last five years shall be solved to enhance the competency of the students to solve the question papers.

 

Please ensure that your ward attends the regular zero period Thursday classes which are planned time to time.

CIRCULAR # 7 December 20, 2010

 

Kindly be informed that school shall remain closed from December 25 to December 27, 2010 on account of National Day of Oman holidays. School shall reopen from December 28, 2010.

 

CIRCULAR # 6 December 20, 2010

 

1. Kindly be informed that Pakistan School Muscat is committed to provide best learning atmosphere to its students. The students of above mentioned class are studying 8 subjects and shall appear in these in the Cambridge International Annual Examination 2012.

 

2. In the best interest of the students, the Management has decided to lower the burden of 8 subjects. The students of class S-I shall appear in the subject of Urdu and Islamiat in the Cambridge Annual Examination 2011 which is scheduled to be held in the month of May 2011. The students shall appear in the remaining 6 subjects in the Annual Examination 2012.

 

3. The science subjects need more time to study to produce good results whereas Urdu and Islamiat require less time for study. In the next academic session, science subjects shall be given more periods so the students may take more time for study.

 

4. The students shall be provided extra coaching till the end of the examination in these two subjects till the commencement of examination.

CIRCULAR # 5 December 20, 2010

 

1. Kindly be informed that extra coaching classes are being arranged for students of class IX & X on every Thursday from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon.  The objective is to cover the shortcomings of the students in the weak area of their study. You are requested to ensure that son/daughter comes in school in uniform to attend the classes.

 

2. Students will also attend the zero periods on all 5 days of the week from 7:30 am to 8:00 am.  Kindly ensure that your wards arrive in school at 7:25 am positively. Your cooperation in this regards shall be highly appreciated.

Note: Girl students must not arrive before 8:30 am on Thursdays.

CIRCULAR # 3 November 28, 2010

 

Kindly be informed that as per the Minsterial decision Oman National Day Festival will be held on November 29, 2010. Therefore pack up time for students on November 29, 2010 shall be 10:45 AM. you are requested to pick up your ward from the school accordingly.

Kindly be informed that Eid-Al-Adha prayer shall be offered in Pakistan School Muscat at 07:15 A. M. sharp.

 

School shall remain closed from November 13, 2010 to November 24, 2010 on account of Eid ul Adha holidays and winter break and will re-open from November 27, 2010.

CIRCULAR # 1 November 08, 2010

 

Kindly be informed that Pakistan School Muscat is committed to provide best opportunities to its students for learning and grooming. Discipline is one of the most important factor to modify the behavior of students. Keeping in view, the students’ future and to provide them best learning environment, the following stringent measures are being adopted with immediate effect:-

 

1. Cell phones, jewelry, electronic gadgets, etc are strictly not allowed. If a student is found in possession of these items, fine shall be imposed on him and shall be suspended for 3 working days. Mobile phone shall only be handed over to the parent concerned.

 

2. If a mobile phone is recovered second time it wii not be returned till the last working day of the session.

 

3. Students shall not be allowed to enter the school after 8 am.

 

4. If a student is found bunking the class he/she shall be suspended for 2 working days and fine shall also be imposed. If a student is suspended for three times he/she shall be expelled from the school.

 

5. If a student is found with improper hair cut, uniform, shoes etc, he/she shall be fined. Class teacher will impose such fine once in a week preferably on Saturday so that student can get haircut on weekend. Class teacher shall issue a warning letter to the student with each imposition of fine for haircut.

 

6. Girl students shall cover their heads with white scarves and it is mandatory.
